CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Hatha Yoga (90 minutes)

Hatha yoga is the branch of yoga tradition focusing on the physical body using postures (asana) and cultivation of the breath (pranayama) to evoke deep relaxation and enhance the mind-body-spirit connection.  Classes are tailored to meet the needs of the participants.  The pace of the class can vary from gentle to moderately vigorous. Explore your world from the inside out.

Restorative Yoga (60 minutes)

A good introduction to the basics of Hatha Yoga; unwinding the body and calming the mind with gentle stretches and appropriate yoga postures (asana) using props and supports.  Improve posture, increase flexibility and strength and practice letting go in deep relaxation.  Suitable for all levels.

Chair Yoga/Therapy (60 minutes)

Move gently through appropriate yoga postures and stretches, using a chair for extra support, while focusing on the breath and creating ease in the body and mind.  This class aims to improve posture and balance, build strength, increase pain-free range of motion and re-establish functional movement patterns in the body. Restorative postures and supports may be used during class and final relaxation.  A wonderful opportunity to slow down and tune in. Suitable for all levels.

Yin Yoga (75 minutes)

Settle deeply into your body and breath.  Postures are gently held, with or without support, for 1-5 minutes targeting the connective tissue of the hips, pelvis and lower spine and increasing circulation in the joints.  A lovely practice to balance the effects of an active lifestyle.

Tensegrity Core Conditioning (60 min.)

A sequence of precise and gentle movements based on Thomas Myers’ AnatomyTrains model to re-pattern movement and the nervous system to bring the body back to its original state of balance. Movement requires less effort becoming more graceful, efficient and fluid.

Private Yoga Therapy and Hatha Yoga sessions available by appointment.

All classes take place at Shapes Fitness in Bracebridge, Ontario.   227 Wellington Street
